Course overview

What is a 100 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh?

A 100 hour yoga teacher training is a short, residential course that teaches you the foundations of yoga practice and the first skills of teaching. At Avatar Yoga School in Rishikesh it runs for about two weeks, with classes six days a week and Sunday free.

The course sits between a casual yoga class and a full 200 hour teacher training. You practise asana, pranayama and meditation every day, study yoga philosophy and anatomy in the afternoons, and begin to learn how to explain a pose to another person. It is a serious course, but it is also gentler than a month long program. That makes it a sensible choice if your time is limited or if you want to test the water before committing to more.

People join for different reasons. Some want to understand their own practice better. Others plan to become yoga teachers and want a first taste before booking the 200 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh. A few simply want two focused weeks of yoga in a quiet town, away from phones and deadlines.

You do not need to be flexible, and you do not need years of experience. You do need to arrive ready to practise early in the morning, follow the daily routine and take part with the rest of the group.

Who should join the 100 hour yoga teacher training?

The 100 hour course suits beginners, regular students who want to deepen their practice, and future teachers who want a first step before the 200 hour course. It also fits people who cannot spend a full month away.

Complete beginners

If you have attended only a few classes, this course gives you the vocabulary and the safe basics. Teachers explain each pose from the ground up, so you build a steady practice without feeling lost.

Regular practitioners

You may practise at a studio or at home and feel stuck. Two weeks of daily guided practice, with feedback on your alignment and breathing, often changes how you move and how you understand your own body.

Future yoga teachers

If you plan to complete a 200 hour course later, this one shows you what daily training feels like. You also meet the teachers and see the school before you make a bigger commitment.

Busy professionals

Not everyone can take a month off. Two weeks in Rishikesh fits into a longer holiday, a sabbatical or a gap between jobs, and you go home with a clear daily routine.

100 hour syllabus

What will you learn in the 100 hour yoga TTC syllabus?

The syllabus covers six areas: asana, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, anatomy and teaching methodology. It is a foundation, so each subject stays practical and easy to follow.

Asana

You learn the main standing, seated, forward bending, backbending, twisting and balancing poses in the Hatha based style. Teachers show correct alignment, common mistakes and simple modifications with props.

Pranayama and cleansing

Daily breathing practice is part of the course. You learn basic pranayama techniques and simple cleansing practices, when to use them and when to skip them, and how to guide a beginner without pushing too hard.

Meditation

You sit every day, usually early in the morning or in the evening. Teachers introduce breath awareness, mantra and silent sitting, so you can find the method that suits you and share it with others later.

Yoga philosophy

Short classes introduce the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the eight limbs of yoga and the idea of a yogic lifestyle. The aim is to link the old ideas to daily life, such as sleep, food, speech and attention.

Anatomy

You learn how joints, muscles and the spine move, why some poses are hard for certain bodies and where injuries often begin. This helps you adjust a pose for different students instead of forcing one shape.

Teaching methodology

You learn how to plan a short class, demonstrate a pose, use clear cues and speak in a calm voice. Near the end you teach small practice sessions to your batch and receive honest feedback.

The exact balance of subjects can change by batch. Ask the team for the current syllabus before you book.

Certification

Is a 100 hour yoga teacher training certificate enough to teach?

A 100 hour certificate is a good foundation, but most studios and gyms ask for at least 200 hours. Yoga Alliance, the best known registry for yoga teachers, starts teacher registration at 200 hours, so a 100 hour course on its own does not qualify you for RYT 200.

That does not make the course less useful. You can share what you learn with friends, family or a small group, and you bring a stronger understanding to your own practice. If you want to teach in studios, plan to continue to a 200 hour course, either here or at another registered school.

Students who complete the course and attend the classes receive a certificate of completion from Avatar Yoga School. Ask the team to confirm the wording and the number of hours printed on it when you enquire.

Before you pay for any teacher training, ask three things
  1. Is the school registered with Yoga Alliance, and for which programs?
  2. Which certificate will I receive when I finish?
  3. Can I count these hours towards a longer course later?

Fees and inclusions

What does the 100 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh include?

The course fee usually covers tuition, accommodation, daily vegetarian meals, course manuals and your certificate. Flights, visa, travel insurance and personal expenses are normally extra. Ask the team for the current fee, since it depends on room type and season.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about the 100 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh

Short, direct answers on eligibility, certification, fees, food and travel.

Yes. The course starts from the basics, so you do not need to be flexible or to have practised for years. A few yoga classes before you arrive will help your body adjust. Tell the team about any injury or health condition when you enquire, so teachers can guide you safely from the first day.

You can share what you learn with friends, family or a small group, as long as you teach within your limits. Most studios, however, ask for a 200 hour certificate before they hire a teacher. If teaching is your goal, treat the 100 hour course as a first step and plan to continue to 200 hours.

Yoga Alliance registers teachers from 200 hours, so a 100 hour course on its own does not lead to RYT 200 registration. It is a foundation course. Ask the school which certificate you will receive, and check its registration in the Yoga Alliance online directory before you pay.

The course runs for about two weeks, with classes six days a week and Sunday free for rest or a short outing. A normal day starts around 6 am with pranayama and ends with meditation in the evening. Exact dates and timings change by batch, so ask the team for the current schedule.

The fee depends on the batch dates and the room type you choose. It usually includes tuition, accommodation, vegetarian meals, course manuals and the certificate. Flights, visa and travel insurance are extra. Message the team on WhatsApp for the current fee, and ask for the inclusions in writing.

The 100 hour course is shorter and covers the foundations of each subject. The 200 hour course runs for about three weeks, goes deeper and includes more practice teaching. It is also the level that most studios and Yoga Alliance expect from new teachers.

Many students do. Some continue straight away, others return a year or two later. Ask the school whether it counts your 100 hours towards the 200 hour course, because policies differ and you will want the answer before you book.

Meals are vegetarian, freshly cooked and simple. Vegan food is usually easy to arrange, and gluten-free meals are possible with some notice. Tell the team about allergies and dietary needs when you book, so the kitchen can plan ahead.

Most foreign nationals need a visa to enter India. The right category depends on your country and the length of your stay, so check the official Indian government visa website or your nearest embassy. Apply early, because processing can take several days.

Rishikesh is widely considered a safe and welcoming town, and many students arrive alone. Use ordinary travel sense: lock your valuables, avoid empty roads late at night and use registered taxis. Share your arrival details with the team so someone expects you.
